How do I register for this event?

Registration for Placemaking Week is now open! Learn more and register directly from our homepage. 
Some side events and workshops may require separate registration due to capacity. You can now access the full program here

 

What opportunities will there be to speak at the conference? Will there be a Call for Proposals?

The Call for Proposals has now closed! All applicants have been informed of their status. If you for some reason submitted an application and have not heard back from us, please email anna.bradley@stipo.nl for more information.

 

Where can I learn about conference updates?

Make sure to sign up for our Placemaking Week newsletter directly from our homepage to receive up-to-date information on registration, program content, speakers, hotels and travel, events and other news. 

 

What day should I arrive in Valencia?

In order to attend all pre-conference events, we recommend arriving on or before June 12th. Official opening day events will take place on June 12th, with an early morning registration at La Marina de Valencia – this early morning registration is mandatory if you signed up and are participating on an off-site workshop that day.

 

How can I book a hotel room for the event?

What are the conference themes this year?

The main five themes will focus on Placemaking for Innovation, Creative Bureaucracy, Open-source sharing from placemaking practice, Future-proof cities through placemaking and Waterfront cities. Please find a the description of themes here.

 

Are there any side events or networking opportunities I need to be aware of?

Yes! We will be hosting a range of networking and social events as part of the full program.

I’m not from Europe, will the content be relevant to me?

Absolutely! We were thrilled to receive a global response to the call for proposals. We encourage placemakers from all over the world to attend this event in order to engage with a multinational group of practitioners and researchers who each will bring their own knowledge and expertise to the table.

Where is La Marina de Valencia located in the city of Valencia?

We have provided to a Google Maps link in the practical information above. In the same section you can also find a map of La Marina de Valencia identifying the main facilities in the space of La Marina and its surrounding area. 

 

What is the official language of the event? Should I worry if my English/Spanish is not great?

Most of the activities in the program will be in English. However, we will provide simultaneous translation (from English to Spanish) during the plenary sessions as well as during the activities open to the public. There is one session, on Friday, June 14th, which will be moderated in Spanish and once again we will provide simultaneous translation (from Spanish to English). In addition, all of the movies planned for screening during the festival will have subtitles.
